  • Save one gold-quality parsnip for the Community Center Quality Crops Bundle

Tips

Plant all 15 seeds on Day 1 and harvest on Day 5. Sell the harvest for approximately 525g, which funds your next round of crops. Parsnips can also be used in the Farmerโ€™s Lunch recipe (+100 energy, +45 health).

Potato

Potatoes are a solid early-spring investment. They have a chance to yield extra potatoes (approximately 10% chance per harvest), making their actual profit higher than the base numbers suggest.

  • Use in cooking: Hashbrowns, Farmerโ€™s Lunch, Mashed Potatoes, Potato Soup
  • Save a gold-quality potato for the Community Center Quality Crops Bundle

Tips

Plant potatoes on Day 5 after harvesting parsnips. With the 10% bonus potato chance, your actual profit per potato is closer to 88g per harvest, making gold per day approximately 6.33g. This makes potatoes one of the best early-game investments.

Cauliflower

Cauliflower is the most profitable single-harvest spring crop available from Pierre. It is also one of the crops that can grow into a giant crop when planted in a 3x3 pattern.

Best Uses

  • Sell for maximum single-harvest profit
  • Save gold-quality for the Quality Crops Bundle
  • Use in cooking: Stir Fry, Mega Meal
  • Giant crops yield 15-21 cauliflowers (worth 2,625-3,675g)

Tips

If planted on Day 1, cauliflower will be ready on Day 13. You can plant a second round on Day 13 that harvests on Day 25, leaving 3 days of the season. Plant in 3x3 blocks for a chance at giant crops. Each giant crop yields an average of 18 cauliflowers worth 3,150g.

Green Bean

Green beans grow on a trellis, meaning you cannot walk through them once planted. They produce multiple harvests, making their total profit quite good despite the low per-harvest value.

Best Uses

  • Sell for steady multi-harvest income
  • Use in cooking: Bean Hotpot, Stir Fry
  • Plant along edges of farm plots to avoid blocking pathways

Tips

Plan your farm layout carefully with green beans. Since they grow on trellises, you cannot walk through them once they mature. Plant them in rows with walking paths between them. Total profit from 5 harvests is 200g - 60g = 140g per plant.

Strawberry

Strawberries are the most profitable spring crop overall, but there is a catch: you can only buy strawberry seeds at the Egg Festival on Spring 13. Buy as many as you can afford.

If you planted on Day 1 (only possible with saved seeds from Year 1), you get up to 6 harvests for 720g total, netting 620g per plant. Always buy as many seeds as possible at the Egg Festival.

Spring Crop FAQ

Should I Plant Parsnips After the First Harvest?

Yes, if you have no other crops to plant. Parsnips have a short 4-day growth cycle, so you can get multiple harvests. However, potatoes and cauliflower are more profitable per day, so prioritize those once you can afford the seeds.

How Many Strawberry Seeds Should I Buy?

Buy as many as you can afford. Even if you spend all your gold on strawberry seeds, the return on investment is excellent. Each strawberry plant with 3 harvests yields 260g net profit. If you buy 20 seeds for 2,000g, you will earn 5,200g in profit by the end of spring.

Is It Worth Planting Green Beans?

Green beans have a low per-harvest value but produce 5 harvests over the season. Their total profit of 140g per plant is decent, but potatoes and cauliflower are generally more profitable. Plant green beans if you have extra gold and space after planting your main crops.

What About Kale and Rhubarb?

Kale and Rhubarb are only available in Year 2+. Kale has a good gold per day at 6.67g and is a solid mid-spring crop. Rhubarb is one of the best spring crops at 9.23g gold per day but requires desert access. Both are worth planting if available.

How Does the Bonus Potato Work?

Potatoes have approximately a 10% chance to yield an extra potato per harvest. This means that on average, each potato harvest yields 1.1 potatoes, making the effective sell price 88g per harvest instead of 80g. This increases gold per day from 5.00g to approximately 6.33g.
